CanvasLand: How to set up a Metamask Wallet
A step-by-step guide to setting up your MetaMask Wallet
MetaMask is one of the most popular crypto software wallets that is available on both web browser extensions and mobile apps, and a crucial part of trading on our CanvasLand marketplace. Most users prefer to own a Metamask wallet compared to other options because it does not limit your flexibility of owning different cryptocurrencies and NFTs within the wallet; MetaMask also stores no information on you which makes it a secure option for crypto users.
If you’re a newbie trying out to set up a wallet to trade on our marketplace, we hope that this step-by-step guideline will come in handy for you!
Step 1: Installing MetaMask
First of all, visit the MetaMask Website and click on the Download button, where you will be led to the page with instructions and information on the list of compatible browsers and devices.
- Click on the ‘Download Now’ button.
- Click on the preferred browser that you’d like to download your MetaMask wallet with.
Currently, MetaMask can be used only on Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Microsoft Edge, or as an app via Apple or Android devices.
(For Chrome users, you’ll be directed to the Chrome Web Store where you can add it as an extension for easy login.)
Once the download is completed, you will be able to start the most important step, which is to create your very first MetaMask wallet! ☺
Step 2: Create a Wallet
- Create a wallet: Click this option if you want to set up a brand new MetaMask Wallet
- Import wallet: This option is for users who have an existing MetaMask Wallet on a different device and would like to import it over to a new one.
Upon selecting the “Create a Wallet” option, you’ll get a prompt to create a password for your Metamask account.
Like any account, you’ll need to key in this password each time you wish to access your MetaMask wallet!
The next additional step is to secure your wallet via your very own:
Secret Recovery Phrase
The Secret Recovery Phrase is randomly generated with a string of 12-word phrases that act as the ‘master key’ to your wallet.
You will be asked to confirm this phrase by entering the word into a comment box. Once everything is done correctly, you’ll arrive on the main page of your MetaMask wallet!
IMPORTANT:
Apart from keeping the Secret Phrase Recovery safe with you, it is advisable to keep a copy (or a few) of the password written down on pieces of paper or somewhere offline. MetaMask does not store any information about its users or wallets, hence you will NOT be able to login into your MetaMask wallet if you lose the password or your Secret Phrase Recovery.
We do not recommend having a digital copy (such as Word doc, text file) of the password that is saved on your laptop or in emails as it might be easily exposed to hackers.
Step 3: Identifying your Public Address
To transfer or import funds or NFTs into your MetaMask wallet, the key code you need to key in would be the Public Address, which is highlighted in the red box. The public address of your wallet is searchable via Etherscan.io, but rest assured that you will be the only person who has full control of the wallet access unless you share it with someone else.
Step 4: Adding Funds into your Wallet
While the most common way of adding tokens into your MetaMask wallet would be sending them from other wallets or via crypto exchange platforms (Binance, Kucoin, Luno, etc) you can also purchase the tokens directly through Wyre, or Transak through the default payment service with MetaMask offers.
*Additional Tip:
Please be reminded that any actions are done on the blockchain consist of a Gas Fee (which can be deemed as a ‘processing fee’); be it whether you’re creating an NFT collection, transferring tokens, or even buying tokens!
Step 5: Mainnet Networks
While the main default network that is commonly used in Metamask is the Ethereum Mainnet, you can also add other networks into your MetaMask wallet.

Once you’ve done the steps from 1 to 5 (with a wallet funded with cryptocurrencies, Congratulations, you’re ready to purchase the very first NFT!

Do make sure that you’re always signed into your MetaMask before using our marketplace.
